This note is appended from Paul Fiddian`s ow website.

The best candidate is a John Leeford, who was born in Cripplegate, London in 1629 and christened 28 Dec 1629 at St Giles. His father was also a John Leeford.

However, it is also possible that he was from a local family whose records have been lost. The reason for believing that the family might have moved to the Fens in the 1630s is that drainage was started at this time and would have provided many opportunities for employment.

This James is the James referred to in the Leaford Appendix Notes, who died intestate; probably either the son or the brother of the "Rich Fool" John.

The children of James and Frances were:
Dinah 1721 - 1727;   Anne born & died 1723;   Anne born 1724;   James born 1726;   and John 1727 - 1799.

After James` death, Frances Leaford (Lefret) then married William Heath in 1729. He died in 1732; there were no children.
Frances Leaford (Lefret) then married Edward Strawson in 1735 (Born 1711; Died 1781)
The children of that marriage were:
John b 1736, d 1743;   Ann b 1738;   Edward b 1740, d 1743;   James b 1743;   John b 1747;   Edward b1750;   Sarah b1752.
